25-06 Remington

Inlägg av Corjack »

Are any of you gentleman shooting a 25-06? I have been a fan of 1/4 bores for years but they only seem popular in the US.I killed many deer with a 250-3000 Savage 99A in my twenties but have come to value the 25-06 the last several years. I have built up a collection of four Sakos and a Blaser Attache barrel in 25-06.
I need to take a couple of them on a Wyoming antelope hunt sometime for testing purposes only  They should be just dandy on that type of game. I am told the new Nosler 110 grain accubond works very well in this round. However I have a large stash of 115 grain Nosler partitions I have been workin with the last few years and the shoot pretty fair.

Looks great!
The .25s have never been as popular as the 6,5 mm:s in europe.

Hi!
As Jonas said, here the .25 lives in the shadow of the 6.5's or more accurately the 6,5x55. The .25-06 is too close to it in power and diameter to catch on here. It is also handicapped by the fact that it, at least in Sweden, is not legal for any other deer species other than roe deer. There are those who use .25 caliber rifles here but they are comparatively few. I, for one, do think a .257 Roberts would make a dandy roe deer rifle (like the one Finn Aagard used to have a pic of in his articles) but it doesn't relly fit into my Swedish 6 gun limit...

Yes, the 6,5x55 is the big little one in scandinavia, but there´s also a lot of german 6,5 mm:s
Sako have always had the 25-06 in production but I think very few have stayed i europe, exept for those countries that have banned all military cartridges for civil use (france..)

I never really gave any thought to you guys having a six gun limit. I can understand the government telling you that you can only have one wife, that is for our own safety. But to tell a man he can only have six guns just does not seem right. however we must consider ourselves blessed we do not live in countrys that do not allow private ownership of guns at all. Some of those countries do allow a man to have more than one wife, just shows how our respective governments actually do care about us.
