6PPC in the field

At some point I may get a chance to hunt caper in which case I probably want to use my 6PPC sako AI sporter (very rare!) It has a 14 twist - is FMJ definately required? If so what's the best bullet to use. As far as I can see the Hornady 80gr FMJ is the lightest which might just stabilise?

I am presuming that the bullet of choice for roe in this chambering is the hornady 70gr soft point that Stefan swears by?

Yes the 80gr Hornady FMJ is a very good choice as a FMJ bullet in PPC with 14 twist. The 70gr is a very good SP bullet in these barrels.

Some 1-14" barrels stabilise the 77 gr Lapua Scenar! It works well on both black grouse and caper, it´s a good idea to hammer the HP shut with a tablespoon or similar. The 80 gr Hornady FMJ also work well in most 1-14" barrels but not all...... The FMJ shoot great in some 1-14" but it seemes like the precision differs a bit depending on the lot.

The 77gr Lapua is not a Scenar, its the older HPBT-bullet.
The 70gr Sierra MK can also be used, if you just prepair the HP so it doesn´t expand.
