How well does this bullet work for alg? I'm likely to be about 740m/s as my ZG is rather worn. Other bullet choices I have are 11.7g partition or A frame at around 810m/s.
I'm not going to try shoot an alg at 300m or at an extreme angle but I wonder if the 13g Oryx will give enough of a better effect at the other end to warrant the increased lead (aim) and recoil.
Also the Norma data for MRP - max load 55.7gr seems quite conservative compared to speer and nosler max loads - 58gr of RL22 (generally accepted as the 'same' powder) does the Oryx create more pressure or is the data more conservative?

I've never tried the Oryx 200 on moose, but it should work just fine for you. From some expansion testing I've done with it using my former 300 Win Mag it seems like a very nice bullet which opens up and also withstands lots of abuse.
Regarding the reloading data - might it be due to the fact that Norma loads basically everything in their book with Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers?

That's good to know. I've just worked up a load that takes account of a much longer COL and a hugely worn throat. It's extremely accurate - I hardly dare chrono it!

I´ve tried it on Moose and it works just fine
, I feed my 200grs oryx with 54 grs of Vihtavuori N550 , COL 81mm and with a regular primer ,Fed 210. It gives a bit more punch then with the 180´s but it´s nice with some recoil
.
That gives me a speed of aprox 815-820 m/s, ( This is MY LOAD in MY GUN) with no high pressure signs.

Re: 13g Oryx in 30-06
I used to hunt moose with a old ZG-47 in 9,3x62. It also had a really long throat, it was even impossible to get to the lands with 286 gr bullets
When I loaded it with 286 gr bullets it was impossible to get over about 660-670 m/s V/0. Even if I keept putting in more powder the V/0 (or the pressure) didn´t increase, I suppose the gas started to "slipp by" the bullet due to the long throat? The ZG shot good and the moose didn´t know what killed them so I didn´t make any big fuss about it
The 200 gr Oryx will be a good choise for moose in your 30-06!
