THIS IS BETTER THAN AN ARREST
Posted to Craig's List Personals:
To the Guy Who Mugged Me Downtown (Downtown, Savannah )
I was the white guy with the black Burberry
jacket that you demanded I hand over shortly after you
pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend. You also asked for
my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I hope you somehow
come across this message. I'd like to apologize.
I didn't expect you to crap your pants when I
drew my pistol after you took my jacket. Truth is, I was
wearing the jacket for a reason that evening, and it
wasn't that cold outside. You see, my girlfriend had
just bought me that Kimber 1911 .45 ACP pistol for
Christmas, and we had just picked up a shoulder holster for
it that evening. Beautiful pistol, eh? It's a very
intimidating weapon when pointed at your head, isn't it?
I know it probably wasn't a great deal of fun
walking back to wherever you'd come from with that brown
sludge flopping about in your pants. I'm sure it was
even worse since you also ended up leaving your shoes,
cellphone, and wallet with me. I couldn't have you
calling up any of your buddies to come help you try to mug
us again. I took the liberty of calling your mother, or
"Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, and
explaining to her your situation. I also bought myself some
gas on your card. I gave your shoes to one of the homeless
guys over by Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all of the
cash in your wallet, then I threw the wallet itself in a
dumpster.
I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your
cell. They'll be on your bill in case you'd like to
know which ones. Alltel recently shut down the line, and
I've only had the phone for a little over a day now, so
I don't know what's going on with that. I hope they
haven't permanently cut off your service. I was about to
make some threatening phone calls to the DA's office
with it. Oh well.
So, about your pants. I know that I was a little
rough on you when you did this whole attempted mugging
thing, so I'd like to make it up to you. I'm sure
you've already washed your pants, so I'd like to
help you out. I'd like to reimburse you for the
detergent you used on the pants. What brand did you use, and
was it liquid or powder? I'd also like to apologize for
not killing you and instead making you walk back home
humiliated. I'm hoping that you'll reconsider your
choice of path in life. Next time you might not be so lucky.
If you read this message, email me and we'll do lunch
and laundry. Peace!

Outstanding!
I have read somewhere but I do not know who origanally said this. "An armed society is a polite society."
I would add that an Educated armed society is a polite society. A little education and a few more firearms could sure reduce a few of the worlds problems.

No, just another way to cause more problems and make things worse.Corjack skrev:Outstanding!

Education and tolerance is probably the best way to find a solution most of the worlds problems. It´s also probably the hardest way to accomplish that.

Re: THIS IS BETTER THAN AN ARREST
This can be the reality in some instances, eventhough most similar stories probably are fabricated by activists - just like the horror stories from the other side...
I'm not interested in taking sides. Though it's a world unknown, unrealistic and unwanted to me I'd never condone those who live in such a reality and take the appropriate action when finding themselves in a lifethreatening situation.

It's true that some people live with a constant threat of getting mugged and sure ventilating your feelings and what solutions you believe in can be valid but this sure sounds like BS to me...just like other BS that's published by the other fraction of people with the opposite view (as you mention Mats).
Even if one does believe in the right to protect oneself using guns...(which I don't believe in for most societies) the sadistical undertones of how this person enjoys having the upper hand...makes him just as scary as his mugger....if you ask me....

Re: THIS IS BETTER THAN AN ARREST
I guess it all a matter of perspective, but in my opinion sticking your head in the sand to avoid a fight never solves the problem, only hides it from our sensitive eyes.

Well, that's one interpretation. My differs from yours and no offense but frankly, I think you're just being PC - which, in fact, is BS.Abana skrev:...the sadistical undertones of how this person enjoys having the upper hand...

Re: THIS IS BETTER THAN AN ARREST
Not being PC and definitely no BS in what I wrote, Mats.
I can totally suppport the feeling of wanting to protect oneself...this is a topic in it self.
but to glorify the humiliation of and violence against others has nothing to do with that...and gloryfication such as this one does provoke me....(sorry, too much emotions in my first comment...not very constructive).

Re: THIS IS BETTER THAN AN ARREST
Let's try this again: that's your interpretation.Abana skrev:...to glorify the humiliation of and violence against others...
The tone might be called immature, even childish, and we can dislike it as best we please, but what I read from it is first and foremost relief. Relief from the pressure and agony of percieved or actual threat against your life. Relief from the fear of becoming a victim. Relief from, well, oppression...
Basic human nature, really. This relief often manifests itself in pursuit of revenge, as here, and the spit and vinegar come by the oceanfull. It's like the tiny geek with beer-bottle-thick glasses screaming profanities about his bully's mother, sister and manhood once the teachers have broken up the schoolyard fight.
Hell, we're basically animals. We have to work hard each and every day to float above the instincts of our reptile, twelve cell brain and some of us fail, sometimes.

Re: THIS IS BETTER THAN AN ARREST
True, and animals (social ones) have their social code of behaviour...with similar roots of origin as our perception of social conduct...they also fail sometimes and have to face the consequences of behavioural misconduct and exessive immature communication skillsInternationelle Mats skrev:
